Cattleya schilleriana is a compact species from the Bahia state of Brazil, glossy and fragrant, with waxy flowers around 4 inches across, mahogany spotting on the petals and sepals, and a broad magenta lip. These plants are the H&R 4N x sib line, a sibling cross made from tetraploid (4N) stock.
What ships:
- Seedling size Cattleya
- 2 inch pot
Tetraploid breeding generally gives seedlings with thicker foliage, sturdier flowers, and deeper, more saturated color than standard forms.
Bright, filtered light and warm to intermediate temperatures suit it. Water heavily through the hot summer growing season, then give a dry winter rest, letting the roots dry thoroughly between waterings.
